River and his Brazilian cocubines

I was sitting at my desk today looking at pics on my cubical wall of Point Village & wondering how River is doing. I know in my heart he is doing well. I do admit I miss the crazy Bi-Polar nut. Hell if it was not for him I would have never bought a condo in Negril.
I do miss the days of sun , rum , and beautiful brown skin women. River could hook up with any woman he layed his eyes on. The thing was he knew it. One time we were strolling the West End smoking some of the High Grade that he always got from Orange Hill. This is no shit a bus full of tourist from Brazil pulled up in front of the bank , the one by the Burger King. The doors opened and out walks one after another these Beautiful Brown skinned Brazilian women. I am sure that there was over 25 of them rolling off this bus so they could go exchange their money. River tells me to pick which one I want. I was like man I'm engaged. He laughed, then he told me to pick 3 for him. I knew he was slick but noway in hell that slick. River does have swagger , but damn these women looked like they were straight off a swimsuit magazine cover. I played his game I picked 3. My wasted blond dread-locked friend goes up to the ones I pointed out and he began to use his charm. I was watching him, thinking oh my god. He walked back to me with the girls with him and says, "hey man, these girls need to get a better rate than what the bank is giving." I know what he was getting ready to do. He had that damn pirate devilish grin on his face.
We walked down to where the old triple X club used to be and met up with our man spice. He was a very seedy guy but he kept us rolling in illegal funds and fun. The girls got one hell of a rate . They said they were staying at Beaches and asked us to come and play on the beach with them. Once we got to their resort and on the beach. We all were in RIVER LAND.
He knew a lot of folks that worked there and we were getting free drinks and food hand over fist. Hell even one of the security guards sat and smoked with us. River had his way with 2 of them in the ocean. Hell if anybody was paying any attention, they could have seen a xxx show right off the beach.
It was getting close to sunset and we wanted to get back to the Point. He had a girl from Morant Bay coming to stay with him. After all was said and done he scored with 2 of the three and made $500 on a scam job he put down on the money exchange. Lol ......

The Devil Has Blue Eyes

The story about the boats are true and no embellishments. I think it was 2005. River was staying at Point Village in Negril as usual. On went on a 3 week bender of rum and females. One morning at 2 in the morning he past out somwhere close to Hedonism. He woke up and stumbled down the beach. He could hardly stand let alone walk. He wanted to get down close to bamboo rootz a local bar. He came to one of the resorts who had a yacht docked to the beach head. He untied it and went aboard. He starts it up and just leaves with it.
He took it to Bamboo Rootz to meet a Ganja connection. So he messes around with her a little bit and he forgot about the boat. Some how he ended up back at the resort passed out in a hammock. He awoke to 3 Police man asking him where he had been the night before. He told them straight up "No idea". 2 of the police knew who River was. They were like" are you sure River". At this point Riv's head was all mush, he was not thinking straight. The cops walked away, no more questions asked.
3 days later his fav. hat (a beat up Rasta Tam) was left on the front desk of the resort with a note attached to it. Note said, "we thought you might like to have this back Capt. River". He left it on the yacht. LOL. Nothingeles was ever said. After that the name River was sealed in folklore.

You see why I write about him

Broken Hearted Pirate

I just got off the phone with River. I have never heard anyone so hurt. He was sober tho. That kinda makes it more hard for me to understand. He rambled on and on about this Lisa girl. My friend has dated many beautiful women, I never saw this girl. I asked him if I could see a pic of her, he got a little upset by me asking him about her pic. He said that it was not her looks that he fell for it was her inner beauty.
I never heard him speak of a female this way. With him it was always about the sex and the body. He treated women in his past as trophies. He thinks he is getting paid back for how he treated women in the past. On some level I kinda see where he is coming from. He was never mean to them he just could not just date one at a time.
I told him to maybe go out on some dates with some other ladies. He told me it would not to be fair to the others cuz he would always be comparing them to her. I asked when was the last time he spoke to her. He said Oct. 26th and says he been trying to contact her since then. She wont talk to him at all. I feel for him. For once he found one that he was really interested and he can't be with her.
Trust me he has many pretty girls in JA. that would love to just spend some time with him. You see my friend is truly in love for the first time. The worst thing is that she has a man and there is noway he can never be with her. I tried to relate to his feelings but I couldn't. He told me was a drunken mess when he last saw her in Wood bridge, NJ. I told him we all get like that sometimes. He said he called her some names like whore. I said well dude she did have a man when she was with you. He told me had to get off the phone.
Hell if I was him I would pretty much say fuck her and move on. Think about she cheated on her new man with River. Then she in return told her man that River was just a friend. So the new guy has No idea the extent of her relationship with Riv.
I just hate seeing my boy like this. She sounds like the devil .

Men of men, Hearts of hearts

I would like to tell you more about him if I could. River has one of the biggest hearts that one person could bare. Yes he could be somewhat of a hell raiser and womanizer, but the one thing he has is heart. Robin Hoodish if you will. He spent a lot of times on the island where Jamaicans themselves would never go. He fears no mortal man.
On one of my trips to meet him we went to Kingston 13. I was scared shitless. It was a far cry from Clarendon, where he had a girl stashed away. Imagine 2 white Americans strolling the streets of the concrete jungle. I asked once and only once. WTF are we doing here. He replied "9Th night soon come". No idea what he was talking about. We got a room, which was a dump , no AC nor bars on the windows. I was so damn nervous, but he was like "man wanna spliff". I could not understand why we were there.
A knock came at the door at 2:30 in the am. I thought I would be knowing the lord very quickly. Riv got up buck naked and just opened it, like he had a death wish.(still to this day I think he does). It was 3 huge dreads and they looked like they ran a lot of things around the city. The one in the middle reached into his pocket, I just shut my eyes and waited for the glak glak. I heard "here riv mi breddren" , he handed him a envelope. They all did some wild hand shake, pats on the back and they left. He looked over at me and just did that grin that he does.
9Th night is here mon, he said. WTF is 9Th night. I had to ask him. he said "big doins in the death yad tonight". I did not ask anymore questions about anything when he said death I just decided to just be quiet. We went down to well I guess you wanna say undertakers office. We walked in, River pulls out the envelope that was handed to him last night. He gave it to the undertaker guy and told him that he wanted everything on that list taken care of no questions asked. the man looked and started laughing" this gonna cost to much money when you gettin the wire ,mon" River pulled out a roll of cash and put it on the counter, then he pulled out his blade and stuck in the counter top, "anymore questions or should i start measuring you for a box". He was a very dark black man when we got there , now he looked white. He said no problems. we left.
He said let's go back to the room and clean up a bit. I never once saw river dress up but that night he was looking GQ. He said time to go. I did not say a word I just followed. We got to the grave yard (death yard). He was welcomed like a king. The big dread from the night before came up to him and said" if it was not for you my mother would not be able to have this great send off , Bless you River." Riv told him that she was like family to him and it meant a lot to help out.
I do not know about all of his connections on the island nor do I wish to. All as I know is not to many white Americans could move that freely in Kingston13. That's what he is about all heart. He loves to give , the sad thing is a lot of folks use that part of him to their advantage.

River The Pirate of Negril

He stood about 6'1and thin. He had sun bleached blond locks with a dark tan. People thought he was Jamaican, because of the way he move around the locals. He spoke the native patois. The island was his oyster. Pirates are real trust me....
I remember my first encounter with him. It was New years eve 1999. The millennium was upon us. Everybody was freaking out about Y2k in the states. So I thought I would head down to the island with my fiance' for festivities. So we got to Negril, we stayed at the resort Point Village.
This was my first time to Jamaica. All I knew about it was Bob Marley, reggae and weed. So when we got there we walked down to the bar to wait for our room to be ready. There was this guy there with a rum bottle in hand with about 9 beautiful women around him. He acted as if he owned the place. Not arrogant, but very sure of himself. He had those women eating out of his hand. My fiance' was in aww. She asked the bartender who he was. He got a smile on his face and said "That's The River".
We just watched him and listened to him woo these women. He had a American/Jamaican accent. I must say his eyes were the color of the sky. His smile was devious and his laugh was more so. He stood up and told the ladies he needed to head downtown to see Mrs.Brown.
As he walked by us my girl said hi to him. I was like wtf. He in return said Wha Gwaan(what's going on?). I introduced my girl and I to him. He asked if we liked brownies, of course we had no idea he meant ganja cakes. You see Mrs. Brown is well known world wide for her baked ganja goods later we found out. He asked if we wanted to go with him to get some sweets. We told him we were waiting on our room to get ready. he said it will be there when we get back. This whole time my girl was staring at him, practically drooling, he paid it no mind at all
We got to this little shack. When we got out of the cab, people yelled his name. Little kids ran up to him just to say hi. I never seen this type of reaction to one person. We walked in to the shack and this lil old lady was behind the counter, she got up and said " River my bad boi" . He leaned down and gave her a hug he said hi mama Brown. He told her he needed 3 cakes and a jug of tea. Tea and brownies what the hell I thought. She handed him the goods and told us that we were in very good company.
We got back in the cab. He said eat up. So here we are munchin down these brownies dying of thirst so he handed us some tea. No none of these things tasted very good at all. very bitter and bland. He asked us if we wanted to catch the sunset at Rick's Cafe' before I could say no my girl says real quick YES! I was getting a little pissed at her but oh well.
We got to Rick's 2 policeman were standing outside the gates. "We don't want any problems Mr. River", they said. He said back to the one "did your sister make it home on time last night". I bout shit. I saw the officer was not happy at all. Riv just laughed and said come new friends let's watch the ball of fire land in the sea.
I was starting to feel a little strange things were not looking right. I told him how I was feeling he said it was probably the mushroom tea starting to work. Oh Shit!! , oh yeah the brownies were ganja brownies. I wanted to kill him. He looked at me and said" I know what your thinking, if ya feel rude enough here I am". I told him I was just surprised. he said cool.
We watched the sun go down. It was amazing, colors flying everywhere with reggae jammin in the background. I was fucked. I could not stop grinning nor could I stand. He called a girl over and introduced me to her. I was trying to tell this girl that I was engaged, but the words would not come out. I looked over at my girl she was gone and so was he. I was thinking the worse.
I heard a familiar voice through the speakers. It was him on stage singing "by the rivers of Babylon" and my girl came back and said she had a hard time finding the bathroom. The audience was captivated. I must say so were we. It was SKA version of the song and he rocked it. Jumping around like a mad man and in control of all the on lookers......Then the song faded in to Trench town rock. He was amazing, he had the lil girls worked up in a frenzy. At one point one jumped on stage and got a hold of him and layed a big ass french kiss on him..The band just kept playing through the 5 min. make out session on stage.
We never did make it back to the hotel that night we went with him and 2 of his ladies to sleep at the light house. What a night , my first night in Jamaica was the best night I ever had all my life...............

Lisa drowned in the River, for my close friend Jeremy AKA River

She was very beautiful ,stunning woman and from Jamaica. She moved to the states with her family when she was approx. 13. She had a hard time adjusting in her new surroundings. People in her new school looked down upon her. What they did not know that how they treated her would make her stronger later on in life.
As she got older she would find comfort in staying out late and going to clubs until early in the morning . She would find love in any man that had some cash , social status and showed her attention. The thing was these men were just using her and she thought it was love. She was walked over and hurt by many. Her heart slowly hardened and she did not know it.
She started on her career and she found her calling. The business world was fast paced and just what she needed to keep her occupied. Then in her early 30's she got pregnant to some guy from the island. He treated her like shit. He wanted papers for citizenship. So she married him hoping he would change and stay around to father her child. He left her when he did she was pretty much relieved to see him go.
Her lil child became her life. She worked hard and started to take college classes so that she could make a better life for her child. It was hard for her to make ends meet , but she did it. Her family has always been there for moral support. they gave her the strength that kept her going.
When her lil child was about 2 she took her to Negril, JA. For some fun in the sun and so the lil one could see her daddy and granny. She was just beautiful all eyes were on her. She loved the attention but she never really paid much mind to the pick up lines she was given.
One day she notice this white guy who had blond dreads, dark tan, and big blue eyes. He was well known at the resort where she was staying. Where ever he went people would call his name as if he was a star. He had charisma and his own style. The thing was he never really paid her any mind because of her beauty.
The story goes that the first time she noticed him was when he was on stage having fun at one of the resort functions. She did not know that he noticed her 2 days before that on the beach while he was snorkeling. Then again he had 3 women in town that he was messing with so his plate was full.
She would always look for him just so she could take a glimpse and try to figure him out. She would hear somebody call out his name and her belly would turn into butterflies. Her head would snap fast to where his name was being called from. She would just gaze at him from a far.
One day their paths crossed, magic, him going one way and she going the other. As they past one another her eyes lit up and she tried not to stare. That was the first time she saw him up close. She was not disappointed. She liked the idea that he did not try go up and hit on her. She loved his coolness.
He told me that she would get up early and go to the beach with her little girl. She wondered why she never saw him in the morning. Ha Ha knowing him he was just getting to bed as she was getting ready for the beach. Rivers diet consisted of Rum , women and nighttime. I myself never seen him eat any food when I was with him.
The story goes on.............. and it will keep going but that was when Lisa drowned in the River. I would like to say there is a happy ending and I would like to say they are still close........the thing is all fairy tales don't end Happily ever after.
You know I hate put blame on things I don't know about. He never really told how the relationship ended or lasted. I never seen a picture of her. He was very protective of the relationship they had. I know they spoke for a lil while once they got back to the states but for how long I have no idea. I would call him to ask if he wanted to get together for some rum and fun.(meaning a girl hunt) He denied me a lot. He would always say, "I'm waiting on a call". He was so damn happy, but at the same time I noticed him longing for the true love of his life..JAMAICA.
How do I know about all of this? Ha Ha!!! I will never tell and yes, I have talked to some folks about making a movie about it. I used to travel to Jamaica a lot as well. I met River several times down there for the smoke ins. He confided in me a lot of his escapades. His stories sounded so damn unreal, I wrote them down after I got done talking with him. The kicker is 99.9% of all the things he said he did was true. He would move around with the same as I did. Everyone I asked about the stories he told were verified.
Sometimes I would be just sitting at a bar and I would hear his name come up in conversation then they would tell some stories of him.
You see River is in all of us he is our alter-ego. As Sasha is to Beyonce'. I only met him as Jeremy once. It was one of the most sad things I ever saw. Drunk ,depressed , overweight and real pale.
The name of the movie will be called "Bi-Polar Island". Yes I know the right people and we are in talks about it. I just need him to give me the OK to do it.....
